Goal: Voice testing, maybe he'll get a promotion to full time, maybe not. I'm interested in having at least one devout character and delving into what allegiance to the Chantry looks like.
About:
Hails from a fairly wealthy Antivan family; formerly a prominent house, the Tomarchios have diminished over time and are minor players within the politics of the country, namely due to their connection to Andreuola Accottanto. Ildefonso had garnered some favor with Andreuola, and his parents expected that favoritism to translate into a place for Ildefonso within her household, through which they could further recoup some of their lost standing within Antivan society.
However, Ildefonso had other plans. His parents were nominally devout, but the Chant of Light made a real impression on their son. Ildefonso's piety outstripped his parents' commitment to the Chantry, and his youthful aspiration of serving Andraste solidified as he grew older and devoted more and more of his time to theological study as opposed to the nuance of the management of the family's vineyards. When the offer of recruitment to the Templar Order was extended, he accepted without hesitation.
Predictably, this didn't go over well with his parents, who had hinged quite a few hopes and dreams on their eldest son. When it became clear they couldn't dissuade him, they disowned him. Upon taking his vows and beginning his service in the Antiva City Circle, he discarded his family name and rechristened himself Solomon to signify his rebirth into a new life, and separation from the path his family had expected of him.
Regrettably, not so simple to go forth and serve the Chantry. Increasingly aware of the corruption and abuses within Circles and the inaction and tacit approval of the Chantry in response, Solomon became an increasingly vocal source of objections, and his duties as a templar reflected the consequences of that. Though he had initially risen quickly through the ranks, his ascent was curtailed as his somewhat unorthodox views became impossible to ignore.
Solomon believes very strongly in the ideals set forth by the Chant, and feels a deep connection to the message of Andraste. It is his view that the mistreatment of mages and subsequent rebellion stems from the perversion and misinterpretation of the Chant by men and the abandonment of the mandate all templars vow to uphold. An increasingly loud voice for reformation within the Order, Solomon staunchly refuses to renounce his vows in spite of his growing frustration and disappointment with both the Order and the Chantry.
